Day one overviews basic topics that the California Department of Social Services requires of Home Care Aides before working with seniors. A great review for many seasoned professionals including abuse reporting requirements and the essentials of personal protective equipment.
Training Course Descriptions
Day two provides thorough training in ambulatory care, (mobility assisting, wheelchairs& other ambulatory aids) safe transfer techniques and mechanical lift training. The coursework introduces Alzheimer’s disease and dementia to include best practices and service techniques designed to mitigate these conditions.
Please note that agenda days 1 and 2 MUST be completed prior to signing up for the hands-on skills training.
A focus on activities of daily living and proper reporting necessary when working with dementia care clients. Natural disasters and workplace emergencies will be introduced and as will methods of treating the effects emergency situations have on clients and care.
End of life care will be introduced as well as ethical care standards related to providing home care to clients. Person centered care and caring for the LGBTQ population will be included.
The importance of proper protection and cleaning to ensure safety against pathogen exposure when handling bodily fluids, blood, and airborne diseases. How to best handle an active shooter situation while ensuring self & client safety. An overview of the levels and costs of care will be presented.
The final training day provides instruction techniques for meaningful activities for client care. Caregivers will also learn how to best handle stress and how to best ensure employee wellness. Worknet will provide resources for continued training and work opportunities.
